DTT Transmission and Network Working Group

The implementation of DTT entails the construction of new broadcasting infrastructure at hilltop sites and testing of DTT technology and equipment. ATV and TVB are embarking on the design and construction of such infrastructure and associated tests. They are working under a tight schedule to meet the requirement of 75% digital coverage by August 2007. The Office of the Telecommunications Authority (OFTA) has formed with ATV and TVB a Working Group on DTT Transmission and Network to solve technical problems and facilitate inter-departmental coordination, so as to ensure timely network rollout with respect to land allocation arrangement, planning application and site construction, etc.

DTT Reception and Equipment Working Group

OFTA has set up with ATV and TVB another Working Group on DTT Reception and Equipment to handle all technical issues related to DTT reception and receiving equipment. The Working Group will involve relevant industry sectors in its discussions at an appropriate time. In particular, the Working Group works out standards for compliance by consumer electronic manufacturers/suppliers and CABD system operators. OFTA has issued respective specifications and guidelines to facilitate production of consumer products and upgrading/installation of CABD system by building management.
